Rooted in the wire industry since 1932. Today an owner-managed group with three divisions, two continents and around 500 employees. What connects us: we think in generations, not in quarters.

Bender GmbH: heart & anchor of the group

Bender GmbH is the holding company of Bender Group. It is responsible for the strategic direction of the group and creates the common framework within which the three divisions act autonomously. Bender GmbH sees itself not only as a steering body but as an active sparring partner for the management boards of its holdings.

What does Bender GmbH do?

Steering & Governance

Group strategy, appointment of management boards and consistent governance and compliance standards.

Finance & Controlling

Group-wide financial planning, reporting, consolidation of annual accounts and cash pooling.

M&A & Portfolio Management

Acquisitions, integration of new companies as well as valuation and monitoring of holdings.

Central Services

Legal, contracts, insurance, IT, HR and communications as shared services for all holdings.

Risk Management

Group-wide risk controlling as well as reputation and liability management.

Milestones

Our roots reach far back. The following timeline shows the evolution of today's group structure.

1932

Founding

The founding of Hagener Feinstahl GmbH in Hagen creates the basis of today's Bender Group. Focus: wire finishing for domestic mechanical engineering.

1960s

Build-up and first exports

Expansion of production capacities and first exports to Europe. Crossing borders in the pre-EEC era was a pioneering act.

1970s

Generational handover

The second generation takes over the company and leads it into a new growth phase.

1980s

Internationalisation

Building worldwide customer relationships. First sales to the USA lay the foundation for today's North America pillar.

1990s

Strategic investments and market leadership

Entry into strategic investments — the foundation of today's BenderInvestment Group. In parallel, Hagener Feinstahl GmbH grows into the largest group-independent stainless-steel wire producer.

2000s

Generational handover

With Ingo Bender, the third generation takes on the family legacy.

2010s

Expansion of wire and US production

Acquisition of Sassenscheidt & Co. GmbH in Germany. Founding of EB.S as a trading company for EDM wires. Expansion of the US presence from pure trade to a strong production location through the acquisition and expansion of TriStar Metals.

2020s

Consolidation under the Bender Group umbrella

Consolidation of the group under the new Bender Group umbrella brand. Investments in the food sector. Further expansion of the US presence through the acquisition of Siri Wire.
